If you haven't been attending the Theatreforte Reading Series, now is the time to start. It's the only place in Ohio you can bear witness to some of the best and brightest talents on the planet.

Chicago playwright Marisa Wegrzyn is a face-to-watch in the middle of the country and on the coasts. Her comedy, The Butcher of Baraboo was part of Steppenwolf's 2006 First Look Repertory before opening in Philadelphia and New York. TheaterMania says "Wegrzyn has an already sharpened knack at trotting out lively characters primed to clash with each other the minute they come into the same room."

Catch-up with Marisa's blog here.

Thanks to everyone

FIRST, we'd like to thank everyone who's attend any of the first 3 sessions of the 2007 Available light Theatreforte FREE Play Reading Series. You've been great audiences, and we're having a lot of fun.

SECONDLY, thanks to all the great actors who've been reading. It's always a joy to work with your close friends, but it's equally wonderful that in these readings, we get to work with people with whom we don't normally get to act. We wish you could all be in our shows, all the time, because you're all so darn great.

THIRDLY, remember that we have many more readings coming up during the rest of the year. We've been working very hard to find plays that will be highly entertaining and moving, and that you won't see or hear anywhere else in Ohio. Up next is Pretty Theft by Adam Szymkowicz. A recent graduate of Juilliard's Playwrights program, Adam is one of the hottest, most beloved playwrights in New York's downtown scene and we're very proud to present his work.

LASTLY, if you want to get updates and reminders from Available light in your email, be sure to sign-up here. (Also, we've been revamping our emailist system and it's been messy, so if you haven't heard from us lately, you should take a moment and send us your email address again.)

July 25: Everything Will Be Different

Everything Will Be Different: A Brief History of Helen of Troy
by Mark Schultz
A FREE Reading
7.25.07 - 7:30pm - Location TBA

Like a dangerously funny teen movie set in the too-real world, Everything Will Be Different is a sassy, unflinching portrayal of burgeoning sexuality and emotional immaturity.

Time Out London called it "a remarkable American play", and the Daily Telegraph called it a “bang on the money portrait of adolescent angst" and a "provocative delight from start to finish.”

Obie-award winner Adam Bock kicks-off our reading series!

Just a tiny bit of news today, a teaser, if you will.

We'll be starting a free summer reading series on June 20. The first play in the series will be The Thugs by Adam Bock. We're especially excited because just last night, Mr Bock's play won a Village Voice Obie-award.

You can read about it here.

When Soho Rep produced the play, they described it thus:

Mysterious things are happening on the 9th floor of a big law firm. What could a new temp have to fear? A new play about work, thunder, and people you don't know.
