Michelle is proud to be the newest member of the Available Light family. She recently served as stage manager for Time and a Few Words and Foolin’ Around with Infinity and as costumer for The Internationalist, Dead City, and Our Town, a community project presented by Available Light and Young Isaac. When she’s not at the theatre, you’ll fine Michelle working her "day job" as a graphic designer or studying. She will complete her B.F.A. in Visual Communication Design in July, 2009. Coolest things I ever did: work at an orphanage in New Orleans, post-Katrina… and spend a week teaching over 100 kids in Rio Bravo, Mexico (none of them spoke a word of english)
Most frightening moment: it’s a toss-up – performing Von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in front of a full auditorium or my School of Music audition.
Random Tidbits:
I have an uncanny ability to creatively make something out of almost nothing… (Especially if it’s a prop or costume.)
I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember. I got my first (full-sized) sewing machine when I was in third grade.
I learned to decorate cakes as a kid too. Occasionally you’ll catch me decorating a wedding cake or some other kind of custom novelty cake. The strangest (other than the inappropriate) one I ever made was a 3-D barn and “muddy pig” sugar cookies to accompany it.
I was a music education major when I started college, I can read and write music, sing and play several instruments. Journalism / design became my fall-back when I decided I’d rather listen to Mozart than dissect it.
I was a Girl Scout for 13 years, and received the highest honor in Girl Scouting, the Gold Award. (Eagle Scout for girls)
Show tunes are my guilty pleasure… I’m obsessed, and addicted.
I have 2 brothers, a half brother, a step brother and 4 step sisters.
