Auditions Dec. 8-10

We're holding auditions, yes we are.
We're casting for two shows (then | after | water and Tomorrow is the Question) that we'll be doing in the next 6 months. We're also trying to figure out who else is acting in Columbus right now. So, if you want to be seen and you're interested in working with us in the future, make it to one of these dates.

Friday 12/8 6-7:30pm
Saturday 12/9 11am-1:30pm
Sunday 12/10 6-7:30pm

You can call (614-975-3764) or email to set up a time, or just show-up and sign-up for a slot.

Auditions will be held at the King Ave. United Methodist Church - 299 King Ave., on the 3rd floor.

Bring 2 contrasting monologues. In case anyone shows up without monologues, cold readings will be provided. BUT, we do prefer to see something you've worked on.

WCW

A very nice quotation to get us through the week.

"It's hard to get the news from poems, but men die miserably every day for lack of what is found there."
- William Carlos Williams

I found the quotation in an article by Jeanette Winsterson titled "The Secret Life of Us." It's about 4 years old, and you can read the whole thing by clicking here.

November Update

First off, have you subscribed to our blog? It's easy, just look to the right, under "Subscribe."

Hello everyone, Matt here. I'm in Iowa City this morning, at my favorite coffee shop in the world, the House of Aromas. I'm here, with Acacia, to attend the National Performance Network annual meeting.

Al[t] affiliate Sean Lewis will be performing his one-man show , I Will Make You Orphans tonight as part of the evening's entertainment. As you may know, Sean has been touring this show (which I recently directed) for quite some time. It's getting more and more attention, and we're hoping this evening will help to catapult him to the so-called "national stage."

We've been working on a lot of projects, which often means a lot of this -

Here's an update of what's going on.

then | after | water
Jenn Fawcett (who's also hanging with us in Iowa) will be in Columbus for some of our rehearsals of her hauntingly beautiful play. We're putting in up in March, and we're working on getting in into a really, really nice space in downtown Columbus. The thing is, it'll take a pretty penny to get us there. If anyone reading this wants to be a sponsor of this production, please let us know. It's an great play and it deserves to be seen in the best possible way.

Tomorrow is the Question
This script is done and we're really excited. We've already been working on this one consistently since the beginning of the year. It's been a difficult script to write, that's all there is to it, but it's done and we're going to begin rehearsing soon. We hope to put this up in May or so, just after Jenn's play.

Home
What is a home? Why is it important? What does home mean to people who have lost their home, like refugees and victims of natural disasters? Is it true that you can never go back home? These questions and more will be explored in Acacia Duncan's upcoming solo work ... which doesn't really have a title yet, but we call it "The Home Show."

And, actually there's more, including the Hip Hop Theatre Afterschool Project, next year's 01 Festival, and reading series. But, you'll have to check back soon to read about that.

Once again, let me remind you to look to the right, you can subscribe to our blog and receive updates automatically. Or, for less frequent updates, join our emailist.
